Explore hatha asanas, breathing techniques (pranayama), yoga nidra and meditation .Students are guided mindfully to nurture a deeper understanding of the spiritual art of yoga. The class moves slowly to deepen in each posture connecting the flow of breath to movement. Asanas teach poise, balance and strength and are practised to improve the body's physical health and clear the mind in preparation for meditation in the pursuit of enlightenment. Yoga is like music. The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life - B.K.S. Iyengar Traditional Hatha Yoga is a holistic yogic path, including moral disciplines, physical postures (asanas), purification procedures (shatkriyas), poses (mudras), yogic breathing (pranayamas), and meditation. The Hatha yoga predominantly practiced in the West consists of mostly asanas understood as physical exercises. It is also recognized as a stress- reducing practice. Hatha represents opposing energies: hot and cold (fire and water, following similar concept as yin-yang), male and female, positive and negative. Hatha yoga attempts to balance mind and body via physical postures or "asanas", purification practices, controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. | Explore YOGA with Sophia I was introduced to the Hatha tradition nearly 10 years ago. Slowly in time yoga moved deeper into my daily life. The practice of yoga created a sacred space to express compassion, creativity & inner strength. I wish to offer you guidance & encouragement to explore the true wisdom of yoga Sophia is currently working with Community & Education Development Programmes. Teaching Mindfulness yoga to Women’s groups, Teens & Seniors. She is a Qualified & practicing Holistic Practitioner & Yoga Teacher (Yoga Alliance). Holding Diploma’s in Aromatherapy, Indian head massage, Holistic Healing therapies. She completed her studies in the Holistic field in 2004. |
